Allergies are the result of your immune system reacting abnormally to an allergen, a substance to which particular individuals have extreme sensitivity. When your body is exposed to an allergen, it releases chemicals like histamines to fight off the allergens, which cause an allergic reaction.
Allergy Drops or Oral Immunotherapy is a treatment protocol that enables your body to develop increased tolerance against pollen, dust mites, animal dander, mold and other common allergens by exposure to gradually increasing doses of them.
Immunotherapy can be administered through a shot (the most common method) or orally, through sublingual drops (under your tongue). Both methods are proven effective, but Oral Immunotherapy through allergy drops inside the lower lip or under the tongue is most effective in treating allergies to pollen, dust mites, and animal dander. It also has the added benefit of being able to be self-administered in the comfort of your own home, whereas injection immunotherapy must be overseen in a physicians office.
